Films from the industry are plenty and varied so that everyone with a different taste in motion pictures has something they can enjoy. But making a film that the whole world can watch and be mesmerized by is a tall order to fulfill. Therefore, Christopher Nolan is considered one of the most talented filmmakers in the business because his movies have a certain charm that almost none can resist.
And since the fans of the director are present all over the world, every distributor has to ensure they get their hands on his creations as soon as possible. But with his upcoming historical drama Oppenheimer, it seems that the film will reach every cinema in the world except in the theatres of this one country.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer May Not Release In Japan
Known for making some of the most intellectually challenging and complex, yet exciting and visually stunning films, filmmaker Christopher Nolan has given the world gems in the history of cinema with some of the most globally well-received films in his career, and he wishes to continue that trend with his new historical war/drama film Oppenheimer, a story that details the creation of the first atomic bomb by scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer.

But while the demand for this film may be coming from all over the world, Japan remains one of the very few countries where the release of this motion picture is still uncertain. Since the film is based on the creation of the first atomic bomb, the very weapon of mass destruction that became the catalyst for the devastation caused in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the studio is uncertain whether the film would perform well if it was released there.
Looking back at some films that did feature a scene related to World War II, Hugh Jackman‘s The Wolverine had a scene where he was seen caught in the middle of a bombing on Nagasaki, and that movie was received well by the Japanese audience. In another instance, Clint Eastwood‘s directed feature Letters From Iwo Jima was also a hit with the audience. Therefore, if Japanese film distributors might take the initiative, then the film has a chance of receiving a release date in the country.
What To Expect From Oppenheimer?
The film focuses more on the journey that the titular scientist and his wish to stop the war with the creation of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer may be set in the era of World War II but will depict the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer and not the state of war that the world was engulfed in. The film is all set to show the noble cause that propelled an inventor to create a weapon of mass destruction, but in turn, made him the enemy of god in humanity’s eyes after the destruction it caused.
