Following a huge success with Oppenheimer, famed director Christopher Nolan is reportedly rumored to helm the next two James Bond movies. Nolan is known for his vivid imagination and for going above and beyond, so fans would love to see what he comes up with.
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is “zeroing in” on Nolan, as per claim by World of Reel. However, this is not the first time Nolan is linked with Bond movies. In 2017, in an interview with Playboy, the filmmaker said that someday he would definitely helm a 007 movie.
Christopher Nolan Rumored to be Standing Behind the Camera for James Bond Movies
When it comes to intense action films, Christopher Nolan is by no means a new name. He is most known for being the driving force behind the Dark Knight trilogy. Thought-provoking films with an element of action are now more Nolan’s forte. Interstellar, Dunkirk, and his most recent movie, Oppenheimer, are a few examples. However, it appears as though Nolan may be returning to the world of nonstop action since he is reportedly in talks to direct the next James Bond film.
According to the World of Reel report, the Inception director is in talks to helm two James Bond movies. Prior to the WGA strike and the Oppenheimer press tour, there were discussions about Nolan taking the job, but both of these events ultimately slowed things down.
Daniel Craig ended his run as Bond in 2021’s No Time To Die, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Since then a number of stars have been rumored as Craig’s successor. And assuming Nolan helming the next and keeping in mind the relation between Henry Cavill and Nolan fans were speculating that it would be Cavill if Nolan becomes the director. Henry Cavill played the lead role in Man of Steel, produced by Christopher Nolan.
But some are saying that it will be Marvel star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson taking over the role legacy of Craig. And this news seems to have upset Cavill’s fans.
Christopher Nolan is a Massive Fan of the Bond Franchise
During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Nolan said it would be “an amazing privilege” to direct a James Bond film.
“The influence of those movies in my filmography is embarrassingly apparent. It would be an amazing privilege to do one,” Nolan told when asked about the spy series.
“At the same time, when you take on a character like that you’re working with a particular set of constraints.”
He added:
“It has to be the right moment in your creative life where you can express what you want to express and really burrow into something within the appropriate constraints because you would never want to take on something like that and do it wrong.”
Nolan previously revealed in a 2017 interview with Playboy (Via The Guardian) that he has kept in contact with “producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years” and would “definitely” be down to take on a film in the hit franchise.
“I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it,” he said at the time.
If creative differences do not occur between Nolan and the producer, we might see him helming James Bond movies and witness how he brings his unique vision to the world of 007.
