Hollywood was rocked this year. An actor’s life is never mundane. Yet this year marked too big a change, with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike derailing a chunk of Hollywood projects. Many major stars also joined hands with them in their fight against the major studios, Cillian Murphy being one of them. Yet, when asked what he did while the project was in progress, his answer might shock you.
The SAG-AFTRA strike is one of the biggest moments for Hollywood
The 160,000 members of the SAG-AFTRA joined hands with 11,500 members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) to stage a protest against major studios over unfair wages, AI technology, and how to divide the profits of the new digital streaming era.
It was in July that the coalition sounded its war cry against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Everyone understood the gravity of the strike, the juncture at which it was being organized, and the sensitivity of the problem.
Industry stalwarts knew well enough what the consequences could be.
Hollywood bigwigs were also on board with the SAG-AFTRA strike
Big ticket names were quick to get behind the strike. You know the fight is serious when Meryl Streep herself takes to the front, signing a letter to the SAG-AFTRA leadership, and pushing them onwards for getting a favorable deal. The list of actors who signed the letter includes Jennifer Lawrence.
Amidst all this, Cillian Murphy was doing something else altogether. The Peaky Blinders star revealed that while the strike was raging on, he was in the confines of his home, enjoying cheese.
Cillian Murphy has quite the answer to what he did while the SAG-AFTRA strike was going on
Cillian Murphy was one of the first stars to lend his support to the strike. The Dunkirk star staged a walk-out during Oppenheimer‘s screening in order to “write their picket signs” and show their solidarity with the protest. But he had the most witty replies when asked what he was up to.
When asked what he was up to in the course of the protest, he said, “I’ve been sitting at home… eating cheese.”

One would be stupid to infer that this raises any doubts about his devotion to the cause of the strike. This statement removes any doubt he had regarding his devotion to cheese.
