Cobra Kai was a step further into the world of Daniel LaRusso and Ralph Macchio’s Karate Kid. With Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith rebooting the movie in 2010, the canonical events were somewhat disrupted.
Well since Chan is now a part of the Karate Kid universe, there is a way Cobra Kai Season 6 could give the world a glimpse of Jackie Chan. Setting up an iconic Karate tournament for the end, Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, and Daniel LaRusso can all meet in the end!
How Cobra Kai Could Give A Jackie Chan Cameo To The World!
Although it would be somewhat weird to face the original stars and the man who starred in a reboot, the world would love it if Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan could meet face to face. With 5 seasons to its name, Cobra Kai has already made several headlines before being renewed for its sixth and allegedly final season.
In the fifth season of Cobra Kai, the dojo (after which the series is named) and Daniel LaRusso become qualified to take part in the Sekai Taikai tournament. A world tournament where all the dojos fight it out on an international level. As per the recent news, the character of Daniel LaRusso has been confirmed to star in the upcoming Karate Kid movie.
Being canonical to the storyline of the original Karate Kid movies and Netflix’s Cobra Kai series, the movie could work as a diversion. When the sixth season of Cobra Kai releases, it could be a very likely possibility that Jackie Chan might be standing there at the Sekai Taikai tournament representing his dojo!
When Jackie Chan Thought That He Was The Karate Kid!
Back in 2010 when Will Smith wanted to help his son’s career, he coincidentally met Jackie Chan at a restaurant. Talking about how Smith offered a role to the Hong Kong actor, Chan mistakenly thought that he was going to portray the role of the kid, not the teacher! (via Lopez Tonight)
“A few years ago, I was in a Japanese restaurant. I was sitting in the room. Somebody said, ‘Will is outside.’ [Will said] ‘We have to make a movie together,’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ One year later, he just called my office, ‘Jackie, I want you to do The Karate Kid.’ I said, ‘Okay, who’s the teacher?’”
Chan further continued,
“I already forget how old I am. I still think I’m the kid. He said, ‘No, you’re the teacher. My son’s going to be the karate kid.”
Well, the duo was well-liked by the world as The Karate Kid received an average rating of 6.2/10 on IMDB and 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2010 movie is currently available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
