It’s time. Doctor Edward “Eddie” Richtofen has finally ordered the emergency activation of Project Janus in COD Zombies. The secret project that players have been theorizing about for around four years was finally mentioned in the latest Liberty Falls trailer.

Around three years ago, one Call of Duty fan theory got significant traction. It implied that Edward Richtofen was trying to get his son back from the dead, who succumbed to a house fire.

Others found this a solid theory and added their speculations to it.

Another fan picked the final part of the theory and supported why Richtofen might’ve named his child Samuel.

However, those fans should weed this theory out of the equation now, as Liberty Falls is a straight punch in its face.

New Questions Will be Raised in the COD Zombies Storyline

I swear to you, son, you’ll never be free” is what Edward Richtofen said while he was pulled by the energy that seemingly appeared as his son was ‘playing‘ with him.

Other than nullifying that theory, it raises a few new questions too. If that energy that pulled Richtofen into what appears like a portal was his son, has he become some demonic entity? Has he been trying to keep his son at bay through Project Janus?

And what about his wife, as she succumbed to that fire too? If she’s involved, maybe we can safely say that it’ll be ‘hell’ of a family reunion. Whatever it is, every mystery regarding Project Janus will unfold soon.

Though details regarding Project Janus are thin on the ground, we know that Richtofen is likely devising a grand scheme to capture the Forsaken, an Elder God.

In one of the memoranda he wrote to his superiors, he assured them that Janus would be given a go at the right time. It appears like the right time is finally here.

While we are discussing the matter, we should not forget Samantha Maxis, who is still in the Dark Aether. Maybe Richtofon will cross paths with her too.
