Jonathan Majors has taken the world by storm, especially when he began his tenure with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the subsequent Creed sequel. Both, coincidentally, assigned Majors with the part of an antagonist – a sympathetic one at that, and suffice it to say, he has done his best to execute the role perfectly down to an iota.
His portrayal of Damian in Creed 3 – a delight to witness, is not only an exemplary depiction of the physicality and intense regimen that the actor has gotten himself to follow, but has also been, at the very least, indicative of the performance that was promised by Majors in the Michael B. Jordan film.
Jonathan Majors Shreds Himself For Creed 3 Role
It is very well known the intensity of grit and mettle that went into the workout to get that perfect shape for Jonathan Majors’ Creed 3 part was already a fiercely intimidating one. Courtesy of the Men’s Health magazine, we now have a glimpse into what that entails. Although the full workout routine is yet to be divulged, the actor worked with trainer Mark Smith for 6 months, starting with when he was already in the midst of filming Quantumania to the production of Creed 3 which began in January 2022 and lasted for three months.
In a nutshell, the routine that Jonathan Majors followed was one that also included sparring sessions with professional boxers. Additionally, he revealed having two consecutive training sessions in the morning every day for 6 months, which approximately extended from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Ranging from straight arm lat pull-downs to close grip pull-ups to oblique knee raises, there were hardly any restraints when it came to intensifying his regimen [Majors’ complete back workout routine can be read here].
His meals were equally rich in carbohydrates and protein varying from every kind of meat paired with rice in every major meal. According to Majors, the carbohydrate intake was an essential component to keep him going during the intense filming schedules of Quantumania and Creed 3. By October 2022, his body fat percentage went down to 5, Majors later claimed, since he was required to put on some muscle mass for his role as Kang in the MCU Phase Five film.
Jonathan Majors Defies Expectations in Male Physique
Although a highly contentious subject in the modern era of body positivity and acceptance, the culture of bodybuilding and maintaining one’s physique is not entirely taboo. As such, the male physique that Jonathan Majors has cultivated over the past few years has ultimately reached a peak just as Creed 3 wrapped production. If it is possible, the actor has managed to get even more shredded for his upcoming role as Killian Maddox in the highly anticipated film, Magazine Dreams.
The actor, in the recent few years, has racked up a reputation for indie films that require him to get into better shape with each subsequent project. It is not surprising that one of his lesser-known shows, Lovecraft Country, is a cult favorite among horror enthusiasts – a show which, for many viewers, became one of the first eye-catchers when it comes to noticing the then up-and-coming Majors and co-star, Jurnee Smollett.
Creed 3 is now playing in theatres worldwide.
