A spin-off of a spin-off — the world might as well be ready to accept the reign of the Rocky Cinematic Universe, as Creed gets a descendant film announced, currently in the works. The first installment, which was released back in 2015, followed the story of Adonis Johnson, who seeks boxing consultancy from his father’s old rival Rocky Balboa. Robert Lawton is the one who will work on the Creed spin-off, Drago.

Screenwriter Robert Lawton is said to be working on Drago. While the details are not clear yet, the film may focus on Ivy Drago and his son Viktor Drago; the former of the two was the antagonist in Rocky IV: Rocky vs Drago, while the latter was seen in Creed 2.

According to IMDB, Robert Lawton has been working on a project titled, Becoming Rocky, not to be confused with the well-acclaimed docu-film directed by Derek Wayne Johnson, 40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic, which is also commonly regarded as Becoming Rocky. Lawton’s endeavor implies that he is passionate about the franchise and might let his brilliance shine in the spin-off.

Dolph Lundgren, who played Ivan Drago, previously in an interview had speculated and teased a potential spin-off that would mark an exploration of his character, and if the insiders are right about their information, then the rumors do align with the actor’s statements.

While Drago seems to be an under-going process, something else has become a matter of contention, and this time it involves the legend of the franchise himself  — Sylvester Stallone. In a now-deleted Instagram post, the actor had called out the Winklers. He even stated that the crew he had been working with, which involved Irwin Winkler and David Winkler — producers of Creed, were “the worst unhuman beings” he had ever met. Remarkable is how Stallone was full of praises when it came to the late producer-partner, Robert Chartoff.

“After IRWIN controlling ROCKY for over 47 years, and now CREED, I really would like have at least a little WHAT’s LEFT of my RIGHTS back, before passing it on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN – I believe That would be a FAIR gesture from this 93 year old gentleman.”

While he did express his disapproval for the Winklers, the Samaritan actor emphasized his support for the loyal fans who have kept the franchise alive for decades now.
