Rocksteady Studios’ critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham trilogy is making its way to the Nintendo Switch family of systems this Fall, as announced in today’s packed Nintendo Direct. This meaty combo pack will include all three entries in the beloved superhero game trilogy, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight as well as all of the DLC released for those games. Notably absent from the collection is Batman: Arkham Origins. This is unlikely to be surprising to many fans of the series, however. Arkham Origins received notably less positive feedback than the other games in the series and is the only one not to be developed by Rocksteady Studios. It was heavily criticized at launch for a swath of technical issues and for generally being less fun than its predecessors. It has also never been ported to other platforms such as Xbox One or PlayStation 4 nor included in similar Batman: Arkham collections on those platforms.

They have done remarkably well with the constraints of the Switch hardware in the past, allowing the Borderlands games to maintain their full texture quality and a steady 30fps framerate.

The combat system in particular has often been lauded as the be some of the best hand-to-hand combat in any video game series, superhero or otherwise.
