2023 was a great year for Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece, One Piece. Not only the series finished one of the most prominent Wano arcs, but it also entered its final saga with the beginning of the Egghead Island arc. Along with that, the franchise released One Piece Live-Action adaptation with Netflix, which is probably the only successful live-action series.
The anime also achieved great heights with Luffy unlocking Gear 5 and defeating the strongest creature in the world: Kaido. He also officially gained the title of Yonko of the Sea, taking him one step closer to his dream of becoming the King of the Pirates. But still, the series had one problem that was a devastating blow for the creators.
Recently, the 8th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards were announced, along with their nominations for 32 categories. The main category among them was the 2024 Anime of the Year award, and while it featured many prominent anime series, One Piece was not seen in the list of nominees which was a huge disappointment for One Piece fans and creators.
