A new studio known as Antistatic Studios has just announced that it is working on a new title that looks similar to a combination of The Last of Us and Lethal Company. Currently, this developer is made up of former developers of groups that made Cyberpunk 2077, Conan Exiles, Bioshock, and more.
At the moment, this project is still in its early stages and has been codenamed Hornet, and there is only a small teaser video showing what kind of atmosphere the game will have once it releases, while there is also a potentially fake conspiracy theory website that is currently being used to tease and scare gamers who are looking into this game.
Codename Hornet Could Be the Next PvE Survival Horror Game That Players Have Been Waiting For to Replace The Last of Us
So far, there isn’t a lot of information regarding Hornet, as it is still in its early stages of development, but what we do know is that it will be taking inspiration from many different titles. During the announcement trailer, we can see inspiration from STALKER, as it could utilise bodycam-found footage as the camera perspective as well as survival horror aspects like The Last of Us.
Along with this, players will be tasked with progressing through what is described as a procedurally assisted open world full of special events, secrets, and eldritch horrors. Even though the game is described as procedurally assisted, it is unclear what this will mean, as people theorise that a large majority of the game will be pre-created but will have procedural moments layered on top to adjust each run just enough to make it feel different.
Currently, we do not know what the end goal will be in Hornet, but from what we see in the announcement trailer and the conspiracy blog post website, our main task to start this game off will be to hunt down a monster known as ‘Muma‘ in both a forest and a location known as The Iron Corridor.
Throughout this teaser, we can see some rather horrifying moments that already have us on the edge of our seats, as a set of blog posts have been published to this conspiracy website that feature a small video showing two soldiers who progress through The Iron Corridor and meet their end by a creature, which seems to be described in another blog post as the creature known as Muma.
Even though there isn’t a lot more information released regarding Hornet, it does sound like a rather fun experience. With the cumulative experience of the developers that are joining together to create Antistatic Studios, we can safely say it will be an impressive title, to be sure.
Staff From Different Developers Are Forming Together to Create a New Company, and It Looks to Be Having a Good Start.
Recently, there have been a good few problems going on within the gaming community, as many developers have been closing down select studios, shutting down entire departments, and laying off thousands of staff members.
Due to these, many developers have begun to form their own companies to work on brand-new projects that no one has ever seen before. This has led to the formation of Antistatic Studios and the new IP that it is currently working on.
So far, developers behind games like Cyberpunk 2077, Conan Exiles, Bioshock, and more have come together to share their passions for gaming, and that’s not all, as they are looking towards demoing this new title at GDC in March.
Along with this demo, they are also looking to fill in their staff numbers to try and get a proper development team up and running so that this game can be taken to full scale, as well as plan some play tests later this year.
