Badowski disclosed that Project Orion is still in the early stages of conceptual design. The project’s development will be helmed by a team of seasoned veterans who played pivotal roles in fine-tuning Cyberpunk 2077 and crafting the Phantom Liberty expansion. It’s like assembling an all-star squad to create the next big thing in gaming.
What makes it intriguing is the studio’s location. CD Projekt Red North America is a newcomer establishing itself in two cities; Vancouver and Boston. These cities have a reputation, for their thriving gaming communities and technological advancements which makes them settings for a project ambitious, as Project Orion.
CD Projekt has plans to expand its Project Orion team by bringing on board a number of skilled individuals. The interesting part? These talented individuals will be divided between two continents. Half of the developers will be stationed in the region of the United States while the remaining half will operate from CD Projekts headquarters, in Poland.
CD Projekt shared some impressive numbers related to the company’s flagship game, Cyberpunk 2077. Since its much-anticipated launch in December 2020, the game has not only met but exceeded expectations. It has crossed the remarkable milestone of 25 million copies sold, indicating that it’s selling at a much faster pace than its previous hit, The Witcher 3.
The anticipated release of Phantom Liberty certainly lived up to the player’s expectations. In its week the game sold an impressive three million copies, which speaks volumes about its lasting appeal and the dedicated community that supports it.
CD Projekt has recently hinted at a live-action project centred around the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
