Cyberpunk 2077 has been having an amazing year. The release of the Phantom Liberty expansion has reinvigorated fans’ hopes in the IP and has even earned the title multiple nominations at The Game Awards 2023.
The hype doesn’t seem to stop there, because another crazy update is coming to the game, and it is bringing along with it features that fans have been asking for since the game’s release. Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 officially releases on December 5, but before that, CD Projekt Red has released a short yet comprehensive trailer on what the update offers.
Update 2.1 Brings Fan-Requested Features to Cyberpunk 2077
It seems that CDPR is aware of fan demands, as the trailer’s headlining feature is the new Metro system. Ever since the game’s E3 2018 trailer, fans have been anticipating a Metro system; however, they were met with disappointment when the game was released without the aforementioned feature.
Now you can finally ride the Metro around Night City. All you need to do is simply walk up to one of the game’s numerous Metro stations, and you’ll be able to select the option to either fast travel or ride the train. You can even gaze out the window as you go.
Another highly requested feature was the ability to interact with your love interests more after their respective quests had concluded. Now you can invite your significant other to your apartment and, as CDPR puts it, ‘Hangout‘ with them.
The trailer shows that you can engage in multiple activities, one of which seems to be dancing with Panam and just overall having a fun time with them.
This feature breathes a lot of life into the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Previously, there wasn’t a whole lot to do after you romance one of the few characters available. At most, you got one more ending. Not only does this allow you to spend more time with these characters, but it also gives V’s apartment more of a purpose.
What Else Does Update 2.1 Bring to the Table?
Car races were quite a mixed bag in the original game. With Update 2.1, players will be able to replay those races with improved and more competitive AI. These races are part of a quest called The Beast in Me, offered to you by Claire of The Afterlife. After completing these races once, you’ll be able to replay them however many times you want.
And though this wasn’t necessarily a requested feature, CDPR has gone above and beyond and added sightseeing binoculars all across Night City. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most gorgeous games ever made, and now you can appreciate that fact even further with this new feature.
Bike combat has been improved significantly. Now you can throw axes and knives while riding bikes. In addition to this, you can even perform tricks on bikes by leaning them in different directions while airborne. On the topic of vehicles, five new bikes and a new car, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, are being added to the game. You can check these out on the Autofixer website.
Finally, when it comes to major new features, a few boss fights are being significantly improved, most notably the Adam Smasher fight. To keep in line with Edgerunners tradition, Adam Smasher will now be able to use the Sandevistan during the fight, which, for fans of the anime series, should be right up their alley.
Other changes are also mentioned in the patch notes on the official website. But when it comes to the trailer specifically, it seems that fans are eating very well for the next few playthroughs.
It seems like there’s currently no stopping Cyberpunk 2077. With its constant flow of changes, new content, and overall improved reputation, the game has truly redeemed itself, and the sequel is sure to be worth keeping an eye out for.
