Cyberpunk 2077’s Update Drops Ahead of Phantom Liberty Expansion – It’s an Entirely New Game

Cyberpunk 2077 has been getting multiple updates and patches ever since its release to make it the game that was promised, and it seems the next update will be the biggest overhaul yet. As you’re probably aware, the game had one of the most controversial launches in gaming history. It was a buggy mess, and a lot of promised features were missing.

But CD Projekt Red has been hard at work trying to live up to those original expectations by adding more and more content to the game. The Phantom Liberty DLC, along with a core game update, will revitalise the title as a whole.

The biggest new addition to the game will be included in the Phantom Liberty Expansion, which will include a brand new area of Night City to explore, titled Dog Town. This area is locked off from the rest of the city, but players will be able to access it for the first time ever.

There is also good news for those not in the market to buy the expansion. The game is getting a ton of changes that will probably warrant a second playthrough. The entire skill tree is getting reworked, to the point where instead of menial stat increases, there are actual skills that you will learn. The game will also add the highly requested feature of respecing, allowing you to completely change your attributes and skills without having to start another playthrough.

Cyberpunk 2077’s world is built on the fact that people get risky cybernetic augmentations. But the gameplay never reflected that. With the new update, players will be able to see their bodies getting transformed whenever they are at a ripperdoc. Cyberpsychosis will also be implemented, which is a condition in which your body cannot handle all the cybernetics, by giving the player debuffs whenever they exceed a sanity limit.

Players who have gotten their hands on preview builds of the game have also mentioned that NPC behaviour seems much more diverse and realistic than the lacklustre AI in the original game. Enemies are reacting to many more details in the environment and are actually much scarier than in the original game.

What to Expect from the New and Improved Cyberpunk 2077

We’ve all been let down before with the game’s launch, but this seems much more promising, as the developers are being much more vocal about the game this time around. It’s possible that they learned from their mistake and want to rectify it. It’s important to remember that players who got previews of the DLC only played for about an hour, so it’s completely possible that the rest of the game doesn’t live up to the hype, but it definitely seems more plausible this time around.

We can expect a bunch of new changes to the game. Improved AI is one thing, but there’s also the possibility of the game adding features like vehicle customisation, which was severely missed in the original game. Giving more weight to important choices in quests would also definitely go a long way. CDPR has also confirmed that the DLC will add a new ending to the main game, which makes sense as even fans of the game agree that the game’s endings felt a little underwhelming. I, for one, cannot wait to jump back into Night City to see how the game has improved.
