From the interview itself a lot of behind-the-scenes information we got to know that was quite surprising for all the fans out there. The most shocking of all those was obviously the amount of time taken to form the final story draft itself, which says a lot about how wild the initial stage of the production was. You can say, it was in shambles!

Through the interview session, we got to know from the producer herself that; CD PROJEKT RED initially had an absolutely different concept for the show. They wanted to express the story of a coming-of-age teenager who aspires to exist to the fullest in Night City, set in the Cyberpunk genre. Then, they shared this idea with Studio Trigger. Everything changed thereafter.

The result was some good 20 months of headstorming and collaboration between the two teams. They worked together on how to bring the world of Cyberpunk 2077 into an anime form. Actually, what they love in Edgerunners today is the fruit of hard work and dedication invested in it. It’s just crazy how the project has come a long way!

As the discussions went on, the interviewers from SHACKNEWS managed to pull out the hot question about Saya Elder, the producer, that every fan is drooling to know more about, which is exactly the possibility of a potential season 2 of the series. Here’s what we got to know;

The producer herself confirmed the fact that new explorations for Night City might be in the works even if it’s not in an anime format that is. According to her, it is a gritty, immersive world envisioned by Mike Pondsmith and brought to life through Cyberpunk 2077.

There was no leakage of concrete details, only thoughts on the enormous narrative potential this universe still carries, which drew on already existing extensions like Edgerunners, the Gangs of Night City board game, or Dark Horse-published comic books. With such a populated setting in terms of threads belonging to different stories, Cyberpunk 2077 will have fans looking out for many more tales from people living in Night City sometime in the near future.
