Walt Disney Studios has a reputation for many things. From changing lives to making dreams come true, it gives life to the fairy tale lifestyle and makes its audience get as close as they can to their fantasy worlds. While there is nothing but happiness on the outside, there have been several alleged concerning patterns linked to the studio that have had many concerns.
From being accused of being profit-hungry, to mistreating employees, the studio has had its fair share of controversies. However, a recent update about the Frozen films, which was supposed to be great news, has turned sour for fans.
Disney’s Latest Franchise?
Recently, there has been buzz about the future of one of the most beloved Disney films of all time, and the updates that are coming are not impressing fans in the slightest. The chief creative officer of the studio, Jennifer Lee, recently gave an interview with Fandango, where she talked about what is next for the Frozen series after the release of the second part in 2019.
She revealed that instead of letting the story end where it did, the studio is planning on a multi-film series, having two more parts that are already in motion. What made her update all the more surprising was when she revealed that both movies were being made simultaneously.
We’re working in a room where this half is ‘Frozen 3’, this half is ‘Frozen 4’, we’re standing in the middle going back & forth.
With half of the team working on the third part and the other on the fourth, the executives are running back and forth to monitor the progress of both films side by side. Lee also mentioned that the process has been quite challenging but is expected to be fruitful.
Is Disney Frozen in Old Patterns?
The concept of milking a franchise of all that it has to offer has had Hollywood polarized for years now. Studios love it, enjoying the profits that come with getting as much money as they can from one concept, franchise, or story. At the same time, audiences absolutely despise watching their beloved works get ripped into shreds simply for an extra buck.
While many fans may be happy to know that there are two more additions to the Frozen universe, others cannot help but wonder about the intentions behind the extension of the franchise. One of the rarest skills to have in the film industry is to know when to stop making more parts of something.
When to end a show or when to call it quits on a franchise. Too often than not, this is done when a series stops providing any profit due to a significant decline in audience reception. With this in mind, many fans are concerned that they will be forced to witness something similar with Frozen.
While on one hand, fans want Disney to simply let it go, others are also concerned about the artists who are going to have to work tirelessly to make the two films. There have been reports and sources who have come out to accuse the studio of mistreatment and toxic working conditions.
