While promoting the upcoming film, the actor has found himself repeatedly questioned about potential casting as Bond. And he was once again asked about any potential update in a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.
However, Cavill denied having any knowledge about the casting, as he shared that he has the same information as everyone else. “I have no idea. All I have to go off of is the rumors,” he said, before stating that it’s all up to the producers.
He told the show host,
“Maybe I’m too old now or maybe I’m not. We’ll see. It’s up to Barbara Broccoli and Mike Wilson and we’ll see what their plans are.”
The 40-year-old actor had earlier auditioned for the role but lost it to Daniel Craig, who made his James Bond debut with the 2006 film Casino Royale and portrayed the character for over a decade. His run as James Bond concluded with the 2021 film, No Time To Die.

However, fans have countered these concerns by pointing out that “Daniel Craig was 41 when Casino Royale came out.” While Craig was actually 38 when he debuted as James Bond in Casino Royale, what fans have been trying to highlight is that Cavill still looks “substantially younger than Craig did at the time.”

I don’t get why we’re having the conversation of Cavill being too old. He’s not 60 years old. The guy can act and looks the part to play a great Bond. Even if he acts in 3 or 4 Bond movies I don’t think he will age that poorly by the end. Don’t pick a younger actor just cause.
