Reddit users were split on the possibility of Ana de Armas playing Lara Croft. Some believed that the Sergio actress would make a great addition to the Tomb Raider franchise, while others argued that her talents might go to waste in a franchise that has no future. However, a few pointed out that Tomb Raider games have elevated their quality to movie levels, making a reboot a definite possibility.

The original movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, was based on the character from the Tomb Raider game series. The titular character was played by Angelina Jolie and saw the fierce archaeologist fight against the Illuminati to retrieve ancient artifacts. The film also had a financially less successful sequel, The Cradle of Life.
