Currently creating a buzz on social media over the new Harry Potter TV show, Daniel Radcliffe discussed that he’s in no rush to reprise his role in the upcoming adaptation. Previously expressing his disappointment over young fans failing to recognize him as the OG Harry Potter, Radcliffe is unwilling to be the “old, haggard Harry” in the upcoming TV series.

Young Fans Fail To Recognize Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe got his breakthrough role with his appearance as Harry Potter in the franchise film adaptation of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter book series. Appearing as a young 11-year-old boy in the first installment of Warner Bros’ film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001), Radcliffe shared the screen with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Further becoming an international sensation, Daniel Radcliffe starred in several great projects. Although the actor proved his versatile acting skills throughout his career, fans still believe his representation of Harry Potter is unmatched. However, despite playing the protagonist in the $9.6B franchise and getting showered with praise, Radcliffe is failing to be recognized by his young fans.

Appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark, Daniel Radcliffe quipped that his young fans had trouble connecting him to his young Harry Potter counterpart. Radcliffe shared, “Parents who are young enough to have seen the films and have grown up with them, have kids of their own now, and they introduce them to me”. However, the kids fail to recognize Radcliffe, “So, I think there’s like, with some kids, an element of disappointment sometimes. Which is rough, actually.”

Daniel Radcliffe Isn’t Rushing To Reprise His Harry Potter Role

Despite the Harry Potter franchise being Daniel Radcliffe’s biggest achievement as an actor, the star is facing great difficulty with young fans failing to recognize him.

Radcliffe is certainly not in a hurry to reprise his role. Considering how the TV show is going to be a new beginning, the actor believes it’s better to cast new actors. “It seems to me that they are wanting to make a fresh series…which it feels like it’d be distracting to have old, haggard Harry also entering from stage left.” Daniel Radcliffe claimed.

While the actor is “certainly not seeking” the role, he is very supportive of the initiation. Looking forward to passing on the magical wand to the young actors who might be the new Harry Potter for the young generation, Radcliffe mentioned, “I wish particularly, obviously, the kids nothing but the best”.
