But this one time, his Harry Potter co-star, the late Alan Rickman, who played the so-called cold-blooded Severus Snape, got the better of him through a prank he played in a serious scene. So much so, that Radcliffe was afraid he was in big trouble for having ruined the intense scene!

Although the late legendary star Alan Rickman played the role of the mysteriously cold Severus Snape in the Harry Potter saga, he was actually the total opposite of his character in real life, as shared by his co-star Daniel Radcliffe, who wrote this touching tribute for him when he passed away.

“People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played, so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner (or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating, and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.”

But the most remarkable thing that Rickman did, that would have the Kill Your Darlings star remember him several years after his death, was the embarrassing prank he played on the Harry Potter portrayer during an intense scene in the movie.

During an AMA session, Daniel Radcliffe was asked about the best prank he pulled while shooting the movie series for the boy who lived. To this, he responded by saying,

“God… I should probably about the one that was pulled on ME, rather than any I pulled. Because it came from a very unexpected place.”

He further went on to share how the late Alan Rickman once played an embarrassing prank on him that got him terrified.

“There’s – in the 3rd film – there’s a shot in the great hall of all the kids sleeping in the great hall, and the camera starts very very wide, and comes in so that it’s an inch from my face, a very long developing set, yeah, and Alan Rickman decided he would plant one of those fart machines in my, uh, sleeping bag, and they waited until like -the camera had come in for this huge DRAMATIC developing shot, and then unleashed this tremendous noise in the great hall.”

This got Radcliffe scared, thinking he was in big trouble for ruining the shot!

“I immediately thought: ‘This is one of the other kids f—ing around, and we were going to get in trouble.'” Radcliffe continued, “But as it turns out, it was one of the members of Britain’s acting royalty. I think I laughed a lot, [and] was probably a bit embarrassed, but it was really really funny.”

Just like that, the cold Severus Snape got the renowned Harry Potter for good!

You can stream the Harry Potter saga on HBO Max.
