But Schwarzenegger could only grab the leading role in Kindergarten Cop after his Twins co-star, Danny DeVito, got rejected because of his height.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares That Kindergarten Cop Is His Favorite Movie

Arnold Schwarzenegger shared that he always wanted to venture into the comedic genre but he failed to do so as studios were reluctant to pursue any roles apart from action, as they were making decent amounts through it. However, fate took a different turn when Schwarzenegger crossed paths with director Ivan Reitman, which led to their collaboration in Twins, and subsequently, the Predator star got a chance to star in his favorite film to date, Kindergarten CopThe Running Man star even added that he thoroughly enjoyed working with film director, Ivan Reitman and his on-screen twin, Danny DeVito.

“I think Kindergarten Cop [is my favorite]. I think one of the comedies [would be my favorite] because for so many years, I tried to get into comedy and I couldn’t. The studios made all this money from action movies. They said, ‘Why would we go and change the mould? We’re making a lot of money with you. We keep giving you action scripts’. Then, when I finally met Ivan Reitman, and when we did Twins and then we did Kindergarten Cop, I was in heaven. It was such a great director and working with Danny DeVito. It was really great”.

Danny DeVito Got Rejected In Kindergarten Cop Leaving Room For Arnold Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger’s role in his favorite movie was associated with several stars before him and this included his Twins co-star Danny DeVitoIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star was being considered for the main role of Detective John Kimble but the director of the film, Ivan Reitman, decided not to move forward with DeVito’s name because of his short height. The role eventually went to the Terminator 2: Judgement Day star and became a massive hit.
