Daredevil: Born Again is slated to be an important entry in the MCU, bringing to the main timeline the most important street-level vigilante. The comic run titled Born Again has been already adapted in Daredevil Season 3. However, there is another storyline the show could adapt given the recent developments in the Echo series concerning Wilson Fisk.

Daredevil: Born Again could adapt the seminal 2021 storyline Devil’s Reign, which explores a New York City where Mayor Fisk cracks down on vigilantes in NYC, including the Avengers, The Fantastic Four and heroes like Daredevil, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. However, the MCU on Netflix introduced a slew of heroes, which Daredevil could be assembling to create a resistance against Wilson Fisk and his lackeys.

Daredevil: Born Again could introduce the Punisher back to the MCU

Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher has one of the best superhero portrayals among the MCU’s street-level vigilantes, becoming synonymous with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’s Captain America. A recent rumour has surfaced, linking Daredevil’s quest to clean up the streets of New York with finding allies in his war against  Wilson Fisk, which would include Frank Castle.

The mid-credit scene for Echo showed us Wilson Fisk becoming aware of the New York mayoral campaign. It is without a doubt that FIsk, despite his conviction, might be looking to make a play for the mayor’s seat in New York, This could happen in multiple ways. with Fisk putting a loyal Henchman on the seat, or with the Kingpin using his sizeable influence to clear up his criminal record. Fisk has always fought Matt on the legal and vigilante front, and this could set up the perfect storyline for the street-level heroes in the MCU.

Wilson Fisk will have a lot on his hands with New York’s vigilantes

Marvel’s The Defenders

Wilson Fisk’s mayoral run could be plagued with more than one vigilante trying to take him down. Given that Marvel vigilantes have only increased in their ranks, Daredevil might have more than just his allies from the Defenders. Characters like Moon Knight and Spider-Man have become an integral part of the street-level side of the MCU, and it is only a matter of time before more are on the way.

However, Wilson Fisk, through his influence, could make life difficult for Daredevil and his allies. Fisk, even without becoming mayor, still wields considerable power in the MCU. Having many contacts in the criminal underworld, and given that he is being set to ‘be the Thanos of the street-level part of Marvel’, Fisk will probably create his army of superpowered henchmen to fight the likes of Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, among others.

Echo, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are available to stream on Disney+.
