Christopher Nolan’s statement on his enthusiasm to work again with Warner Bros raised speculations among fans that another The Dark Knight installment could be on the way. The director worked with the studio for most of his career but decided to part ways because of differences of opinion regarding the future of the film industry.
With that feud now “water under the bridge,” and the studio also wanting Nolan back, there has been an anticipation from fans that they will team up again for another Christian Bale-led superhero movie.
Christopher Nolan And Warner Bros Are Mutually Excited To Work With Each Other Again
After Christopher Nolan revealed his rift with Warner Bros is now a thing of the past, the Oppenheimer director admitted he is now ready to collaborate with them via Variety:
“Oh yeah, absolutely. Pam and Mike and Zaslav, they’re trying to do some great things with that studio, which is encouraging to see.”
Nolan and Warner Bros’ feud started during the pandemic after the studio decided to premiere a year’s worth of movies on HBO Max. The Dark Knight director had no scheduled film at that time, but he was not in favor of this decision. He stated:
“Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service.”
Now that he’s up and ready to collaborate and create more blockbuster films with Warner Bros, Nolan shared he is open to all kinds of projects, even franchises like Batman. The director explained:
“Ideas come from everywhere. I’ve done a remake, I’ve made adaptations from comic books and novels, and I’ve written original screenplays. I’m open to anything. But as a writer and director, whatever I do, I have to feel like I own it completely. I have to make it original to me. The initial seed of an idea may come from elsewhere, but it has to go through my fingers on a keyboard and come out through my eyes alone.”
Interestingly, the feeling is mutual with the studio wanting to work with Nolan again and repair the ruptured relationship. Michael De Luca, chairperson of Warner Bros, said in another conversation with Variety:
“We’re hoping to get Nolan back. I think there’s a world.”
With both parties agreeing to bury the hatchet and cooperate again, fans are absolutely going crazy over the possibility of another comic book film adaptation of Batman.
