Dark Souls is one of the more notable Soulsborne franchises developed by FromSoftware and director Hidetaka Miyazaki is proud of what the studio has accomplished. Despite the immense growth in popularity, the gaming community is open to a more refined version of the game.
Remasters are all the rage and are a good way to preserve older games by giving them a performance and visual boost for modern gaming consoles. FromSoftware gave the original game of the franchise the same treatment but one modder took it upon himself to do better.
Dark Souls is Getting Another Remaster from an Independent Modder

The Soulsborne franchise grew at an exponential rate and the gaming community fell in love with the genre. FromSoftware single-handedly pioneered the genre, and it inspired other game developers to take a swing at the idea, which director Hidetaka Miyazaki later admitted was beneficial for the studio and also a great way to gain ideas in return.

The exchange was mutual and it seemed fair to give and take, but the community has a special attachment to the first part of the Dark Souls trilogy and one modder will make it look better than it ever did. FromSoftserve is an independent modder and revealed that he has been working on a remastered mod for the game.
The modder promised a great deal of improvements that many believe Miyazaki and the rest of the team could not deliver. While the details mostly describe the visual improvements like lighting, rendering, foliage, and quality, it remains to be seen how big of an improvement the independent modder made.
Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware Should Probably Take a Look at the Dark Souls Remastered Mod
![The Dark Souls Remastered mod could inspire the developers to do better.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/26063739/elden-ring-creator-hidetaka-miyazaki-1024x576.jpg)
The original game was released over a decade ago and an official remaster came around a few years later but the technology was still holding back the studio’s and Miyazaki’s creative vision. Perhaps the modder could succeed where the developers failed and give the fans a definite way to play the Soulsborne game.
The first part of the trilogy served as a great learning experience for Miyazaki. The director has gotten used to focusing on the combat and gameplay first and then working on the narrative, which prompted the studio to do the other way around for Elden Ring, which turned out to be the greatest game in the entire genre.
Technological limitations will no longer hinder the definite experience of the game, and could inspire the developers to take another look and attempt to give these legacy games the remasters they deserve.
Many video games have stood the test of time, aging like fine wine, with enduring appeal and relevance. However, some games are dated and could benefit from enhancements or updates to improve their overall experience.
Hidetaka Miyazaki is a creative visionary who was limited by the resources he and his team had at the time of development for Dark Souls, and while the official remaster did improve the game, it is still intriguing to see what one person can do to make it even better.
