Well, it was the year 2018 when a film titled Solo: A Star Wars Story was released. Naturally, the film was rated PG-13 but fans felt that it lacked something. With Han Solo being a kid-friendly character, fans felt that an R-rated film would have been ideal, and Dave Filoni’s recent statement has now given them hope!

Dave Filoni Finds An R-Rated Star Wars Film “Interesting”

Since its inception in 1977, the Star Wars franchise has always tried to keep the films and series PG-13. With a global fan following that includes children and teens, the franchise has not stepped into the world of R-rated violence or mature themes, even after 47 years since its inception!

Dave Filoni is the current Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm Ltd. and some of these decisions eventually fall onto him. With fans clamoring that an R-rated Star Wars film would do really well for the franchise, Filoni agreed with the people.

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Filoni was asked about his thoughts on an R-rated Star Wars film. The CEO stated that the idea could be “interesting” and it all comes down to people’s personal preference!

I think it’s interesting that… The bottom line is that whatever we do, it has to be really well done. I think when you look at something is taken as different as Andor, it’s so well done that I think that there’s an audience for that.

He further continued,

It’s almost like your taste, right? For food, you’re taste in cinema and visuals changes as you get older.

Well, fans couldn’t seem to agree more with Dave Filoni’s comments as the world is now hoping that the Star Wars franchise will indeed take the next big step. Deadpool & Wolverine has really taught the world that adult movies are as important to cinema as PG-13 ones.

But if Filoni were to really make a Star Wars film that was rated R for mature themes, violence, and a small number of adult scenes, which character would be the perfect job? Fans say that Han Solo could be the answer!

Han Solo To Get His Hands Bloody In A Sequel?

Before we delve into this theory, we would like to clarify that a sequel for Solo: A Star Wars Story is NOT in the works (as far as we know). Now, with Dave Filoni’s statements, fans have only one thing on their mind.

Harrison Ford’s Han Solo became notorious as a smuggler who eventually joined the hero’s side. In 2018, a film titled Solo: A Star Wars Story was released which received average reviews and ratings from around the world.

Some people claimed that if Dave Filoni wants to make an R-rated Star Wars film, then a sequel to Solo is definitely where he should start. With the character of Han Solo being an adventurer, some violent fights, and his devilish charm with the ladies (‘rizz’ as they call it today), the world needs an adult Han Solo who behaves like an adult Han Solo!

But in the end, this remains a mere theory and a hope for Star Wars fans that they might get to see an R-rated Star Wars film someday. Solo: A Star Wars Story received a rating of 6.9/10 on IMDB and an average of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes.
