And recent reports have claimed that the Oscar nominee has decided to take the job. According to Jeff Sneider, Fincher has agreed to direct the US version of Squid Game. The Seven director has years long experience of working with psychological thrillers and could do a great job with the Squid Game remake as well.

However, he also has a history of leaving projects mid-way. The sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Mindhunter Season 3, and World War Z II are some of the projects that seem to have lost track with time as Fincher moves ahead with new projects.

However, there have been questions raised why Netflix or the Fight Club director does not want to continue the ongoing shows. His crime series, Mindhunter was canceled by the streaming giant after two seasons. He explained that the reason behind the show’s cancellation was its high budget and it was not getting enough reception to continue it.

However, it would also be interesting to see if the American Squid Game would be able to gain the same response as the original series, considering that the second season of the show is expected to release the following year.

Squid Game is available to stream on Netflix.

The Killer will premiere on 10 November 2023 on Netflix.
