DC Comics: 6 Times The Weaker Underdog Fought A God (& WON!!)

Many a times in DC Comics, we saw the weaker underdog almost bring down a mightier opponent without breaking a sweat. These DC Comics moments are absolute gold and we list out the best of the lot.

Connor Kent Brought Superboy-Prime To His Knees

Infinite Crisis

In Infinite Crisis, Alexander Luthor used the villain Superboy-Prime as his muscle to bring down the DC Heroes. Superboy-Prime easily defeated Superboy. It was only after Doom Patrol, Teen Titans, and the Justice Society joined forces that we saw Superboy-Prime take the backfoot. But the guy is not that easy to kill. He returned to menace the DC Universe again. But this time – Superboy was ready. He fought Superboy-Prime by pitting him against Alexander Luthor’s multiversal tuning fork. Connor Kent saved Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Nightwing, and Wonder Girl but lost his own life in the process.

Mister Miracle Kills Darkseid Out Of Nowhere

Mister Miracle

A new war was about to erupt between Apokolips and New Genesis. The only way to stop it form happening was if Mister Miracle and Big Barda agreed to give away their child to Darkseid, Ruler of Apokolips and DC’s God of Evil. On the day of exchange though, things took a turn for the worse. Mister Miracle had hid a weapon along with a Fahren Knife in the baby’s stroller. When he got his chance, Mister Miracle along with Big Barda did the unthinkable. They killed Darkseid and thus the war between New Genesis and Apokolips never came to pass. They also got to keep their child.

An Almost Powerless Superman Beats The Ultra-Humanite

Ultra-Humanite

The comic book arc Superman And The Authority saw Superman losing his powers. But the threat of Ultra-Humanite loomed across the horizon. So Kal-El hired Manchester Black, Apollo, Midnighter, Steel, OMAC, Enchantress, and Lightray to stop Ultra-Humanite. Ultra-Humanite also hired a few villains to help separate Superman from his team. He had transplanted his brain into Solomon Grundy‘s body. With Grundy’s unstoppable strength at his disposal, Ultra-Humanite almost defeated Superman before the Man of Steel turned the tables and saved the day.

Deathstroke Takes Down The Justice League

Deathstroke

He is already a force to be reckoned with. The guy is someone even the Justice League thinks twice before crossing paths with. When Doctor Light hires Wade Wilson to be his bodyguard, Deathstroke faces the Justice League who is after Doctor Light. Wade makes short work out of Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman, the Atom, Zatanna, the Flash, and Green Lantern. The heroes manage to win just on the basis of numerical superiority but the fact that Deathstroke brought such seasoned heroes to their knees shows he is a force of nature of he decides to get serious.

The Brutal Humiliation Of The Sinestro Corps

Sinestro Corps War

The comic book arc Sinestro Corps War saw many supervillains wield the Yellow power of fear. Cyborg Superman, Superboy-Prime, and even the Anti-Monitor wielded a Yellow Power Ring to join Sinestro in his war against the heroes of the DC Comics. The heroes of DC Comics had no counter to the power of the Yellow Lanterns. It was only when Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan fought Sinestro without any of their rings that the tables turned. Without Sinestro’s leadership, the Sinestro Corps was easily pushed back and defeated.

The Heroes Of DC Comics Defeat The Anti-Monitor

Anti-Monitor

We would all agree to the fact that Crisis on Infinite Earths may be the greatest DC Comics storyline ever written. The Anti-Monitor, an evil cosmic entity, set events into motion which he had been planning since eons. Not even the Spectre was able to hold him off. The fact that the heroes of DC Comics were not only able to hold the Anti-Monitor off but also defeat him in the process is an absolutely formidable feat.
