Kevin Smith Hosted ‘DC Daily’ Kick-Off Announced For DC Universe

DC Universe has just unveiled it’s exclusive daily news show which will kick-off with an inaugural episode to be hosted by Kevin Smith.

In a press release, DC Entertainment announced that the DC Universe digital service will have an exclusive daily news service, with certain segments being available for viewing at no cost to other online channels. The DC Daily show will give fans all of the DC news they’ll ever need, insights, exclusive guest appearances, interviews, and panel discussions with some of the biggest voices in the DC universe.

The DC Daily show will premiere on August 29th at 4:30 PM PST. Filmmaker and comic book writer Kevin Smith will be hosting the series’ kickoff, which will introduce fans to the format, sets, and exclusive content that will be frequently on the show. He will also give fans an in-depth look at the DC Universe digital service. Fans can watch the live-stream on Facebook, Youtube, or Twitch to hear the latest news about the service, including a potential release date beyond the publicized fall 2018 date.

DC Daily “Headlines” will be available to all DC fans to watch on the company’s Youtube page, while a more expanded version to debut on DC Universe this fall. DC Daily is replacing the current DC All-Access which has been serving news to DC fans since 2013.

The new set for DC Daily

DC Daily will give fans an in-depth look that connects with what is going with the original series, comics, and community on the DC Universe service. DC Daily is set to have numerous hosts appear that will be recognizable to DC fans, with special guests and co-hosts being members of the daily cast. The current DC Daily format will include ‘Headlines,’ a breakdown of daily news briefs; ‘Reports,’ a single-topic special that might feature an in-depth interview with those knowledgeable about the DC universe or deep dive into an upcoming book, film or series; and ‘Talk,’ a panel discussion including an in-depth analysis about today’s hottest topics and news about the happenings of the DC universe, which will only be accessible to DC Universe subscribers.

The DC Daily Show will take place and be streamed on a 1,200 square-foot set built exclusively for the series at the Warner Bros. Digital Network studio in Burbank, California. The set is custom-made to include original large-format panel artwork of iconic DC characters, conversational seating, demonstration stations, and stand-up viewing areas for hosts, guest commentators and special guests.

DC UNIVERSE, launching in 2018, is a standalone digital experience designed for the DC fan. Showcasing DC’s iconic characters, DC UNIVERSE offers new original live-action and animated series, legendary films and series, and epic animated movies, as well as a fan community, a curated selection of comic books, and exclusive merchandise. DC UNIVERSE is operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks in collaboration with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Labs. DC UNIVERSE offers access to exclusive content and experiences not available anywhere else.
