CW’s long-running The Flash series recently saw its completion on May 24th after a whole decade. While it felt bittersweet for a lot of fans as the show ended right before the Ezra Miller starrer DC movie The Flash releases next month, according to a lot of fans, they still felt satisfied with the ending.

Although, this particular end felt a little more impactful for the fans, since DC’s sister shows based on the Arrowverse have also concluded their journey over the years.

However, in an interesting turn of events, the director of CW’s The Flash, Eric Wallace, gave an optimistic update that even after its conclusion, there are chances that the characters might live on.

And those chances happen to be none other than in the form of another DC and CW collaboration series, Tyler Hoechlin starrer Superman and Lois.

Eric Wallace claims CW’s The Flash can return

Eric Wallace had been overseeing the Grant Gustin starrer series for the entirety of its decade-long run. As such, its conclusion, while euphoric, also brought about some sentimental feelings in him. In an interview, he expressed his thoughts, saying,

“I still am hopeful that the Arrowverse is not over. I’ve approached it as ‘The Flash’ is over and I want to make the best Flash series finale as possible.”

In addition, he claimed that he is in fact looking to explore more as soon as possible. He claimed that he hopes to collaborate with another DC show on CW, Superman and Lois, as a multiversal crossover, if the show renews for a fourth season. He elaborated,

I’m going to have lunch with [‘Superman & Lois’ showrunner] Todd [Helbing] in the next couple weeks. And I’m going to tell him, ‘If you get a fourth season, you’ve got to sneak some Arrowverse in there. You are now carrying the torch.'”

Thankfully for Wallace, Todd Helbing had held hopes for collaboration as well for some time and now with cleared schedules, he hopes to explore this topic more.

Todd Helbing wants to collaborate with Eric Wallace to bring back The Flash

Interestingly, it’s not only Wallace who hopes to continue the Arrowverse and especially The Flash with a collaboration.

Todd Helbing claimed he had harbored those hopes as well, however, with so many regular shows running, they never really got the chance of the time to explore more. He explained in an interview,

I will say this, it sure is a lot easier now that the other shows aren’t on the air, people’s schedules are a lot easier to work around, so… maybe. I would love to bring Grant on, and I think it would be a lot of fun to have Candice, to have Iris with [Elizabeth Tulloch’s] Lois Lane. So we’ll see.”

Well, with the showrunners on board, it surely increases the chances of the crossover happening that much more. The only problem now remains is the teensy matter of CW being under a new leaderboard that wants to completely redesign its content and concept.

So it will be interesting to see if Superman and Lois do end up renewing for a fourth season, and whether that would bring back Grant Gustin’s The Flash on board.

Fans seem conflicted over a potential Flash and Superman collaboration

The Flash series has had a history of multiversal travels and crossovers during its course. As a result, although the two series take place in completely different universes, with Superman and Lois taking place in a world where Clark Kent is the only superhero, it might not be entirely impossible.

However, this specific fact seems to bug a lot of fans as they claim that the two universes are completely detached and should have no connection to each other.

There is another group of fans, though, who claim they would love to see such a crossover. As such, the fandom seems to be in somewhat of a conflict as they try to process Wallace’s intriguing reveal.

It will be interesting to see if this crossover really does come about. Especially, as this implies a lot of potential storylines developing in time. However, even if it doesn’t come to pass, there are still ways to make The Flash return as from Flashpoint to Arrowverse there are endless amounts of source material for possible movies.
