DC Universe Online refuses to stop existing and rises once again from the ashes like a Phoenix. The announcement of the upcoming version for the current console came through the game’s official website itself, which confirmed the feat of extending the useful life of the superhero MMO, DC Universe, since its original release for PlayStation 3 under the umbrella of Sony Online Entertainment.

After that, the publisher was spun off and reformed under the name Daybreak Game Company, where the online open world would continue to operate with licensing to this day. Now, developers confirm that DC Universe Online will expand to its third generation of PlayStations, with a native PlayStation 5 port planned for the holidays later this year.

According to the studio, “Along with the performance gains found playing natively on the latest and greatest hardware, the team is also working on gameplay and quality of life improvements to match.” They added, “This initiative is a long-term endeavour that is well underway. You’ll see some of these enhancements roll out over the next few months ahead of launch on new consoles, some of them at launch and others following over the next year.”

Something important to note is that this new version for PlayStation 5 of DC Universe Online will run on the same servers as the previous versions and with that, all characters, purchases, and saved progress will be transferred to the new console.
