Deadpool 3 is going to be the only theatrical entry of the MCU in 2024, which means that it has a lot riding on it. Apart from being the first feature-length mutant outing in the MCU, the film also comes at a time when the MCU has been struggling a lot. Films and streaming shows have not yielded the support that was expected from fans, leading to some major scheduling changes at Disney and Marvel.
With the Superbowl fast approaching, Deadpool 3, which wrapped filming earlier this year, is expected to drop a teaser at the event, showcasing what the mutant population is going to look like, now that Disney has acquired Fox, along with the rights to Marvel’s mutant characters. Here are three things that can be expected from the teaser:
An X-Men cameo
A large part of the marketing push for Deadpool 3 is the involvement of Hugh Jackman, who will be reprising his role as Wolverine from Fox’s X-Men films. Wolverine will be wearing a version of his costume from the comics, something he never did in the Fox Universe. However, given that this is the first feature-length entry of the Mutants in the MCU, we can assume that the X-Men will get some sort of shout-out or a tease in the teaser, even if it is Deadpool addressing the audience and saying that they are coming.
Deadpool reacting to Disney acquiring Fox
Deadpool is a character that is aware of the fact that he is fictional. Having made a lot of jokes about the fact, while also taking potshots at the studio (20th Century Fox for Deadpool and Deadpool 2), it is without a doubt that the chances of the teaser opening with Deadpool reacting to the acquisition are high. After all, Deadpool thrives on making jokes that would otherwise be a no-go in any other studio outing, the character is going to diss Disney in the teaser, if not react to it in his signature, over-the-top manner.
No real film footage
Deadpool films usually release a teaser for the film that has no footage from the film itself. While a full-fledged trailer will show us what the film looks like, the teaser for the film, like for the previous films, could just be Deadpool talking to the camera about aspects of the film that we would enjoy. One could argue that we already got that with Ryan Reynolds‘ announcement of the film, but it must be noted that it wasn’t in character to begin with. Deadpool could be sitting in an exec’s office talking about all the money he has to share with a certain mouse, and could once again refer to Ryan Reynolds as Mr. Lively.
