Shawn Levy Explains Why Walker Scobell’s Cameo Was Cut From Deadpool & Wolverine

Walker Scobell, with his breakout role in Secret Headquarters, has garnered significant attention in Tinsel Town. As a promising young talent in the industry, the actor was also set to make a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. In an interview (via Entertainment Weekly), director Shawn Levy revealed that Scobell was almost on the verge of being cast as Kidpool in the movie.

Both Scobell and Levy had worked together on The Adam Project, so the director had a strong inclination towards casting him. However, the actor’s puberty posed a serious challenge to this, and ultimately the plan was dropped. Levy added, “If Walker Scobell had stopped evolving right before puberty,” he would have definitely played Kidpool.

Further, it was the young actor’s dream role, and both he and Reynolds tried to make it happen. But unfortunately, as Scobell grew taller and his voice deepened, the duo knew he was no longer suitable for the part. The director explained the same situation to Scobell, and “he was completely understanding.”

In the end, the role of Kidpool was offered to Reynolds’ daughter Inez, while his youngest Olin played Babypool in the movie’s climax.
