Deadpool & Wolverine’s Brutal Fight Scene Proves MCU Desperately Needs to Give 1 Key Player a Stupendous Power-up Before Robert Downey Jr Returns in Avengers: Doomsday

Deadpool & Wolverine has been a major hit, even though fans have questions about this particular aspect of the laugh-riot.

SUMMARY

  • The TVA was first introduced in Loki, and are timeline protectors who get rid of temporal anomalies across the MCU.
  • However, considering the scope of their jobs, their agents have been straightforward to defeat in the overall MCU thus far.
  • That may need to change, considering the ease with which Deadpool played around with the agents in the latest MCU movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrived at the end of July, and it has single-handedly reinvigorated interest in overall MCU. And why not?

Featuring the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, the laugh-riot threw in plenty of fan service, cameos from (not-really) forgotten superheroes, and an outlined change in direction which appears better than everything Marvel had thrown to the big screen in the post-Endgame era.

Regardless, one aspect of the movie has received minor criticism, in the sense that the TVA agents that have featured in overall MCU thus far seem to be utterly vulnerable. They were easily defeated by Sylvie, a Loki variant, in Loki, and were thrown around even more easily by Deadpool in the latest movie.

Considering TVA and its agents are said to play a major role in the MCU with respect to the upcoming Avengers saga, Marvel might need to give them a boost, in order to prepare the organization for what’s coming.

Loki brought forth the introduction of the Time Variance Authority, a timeline-monitoring organization that ensures the multiverse remains peaceful and gets rid of any temporal anomalies that might crop up. These anomalies are then sent to The Void, which was effectively the setting of Deadpool & Wolverine as well.

Regardless, considering the TVA has to monitor and rid the timeline of bonafide threats that put the Sacred Timeline at risk, their agents do not seem to be powerful enough to make much of an impact. Not only did Sylvie and Loki undergo little to no trouble in defeating them, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool made a complete mockery out of them in Deadpool & Wolverine.

That fact alone, in addition to the increased role the TVA can be expected to play in the coming years, means that agents might need to be shown in a different light in upcoming movies. One fan on Twitter argued the same, as the organization currently hardly looks capable of dealing with the kind of threats fans know will show up in the upcoming Avengers saga.

Doctor Doom, and the variety of characters that he brings forth in Secret Wars and Doomsday means, that like all of the MCU’s superheroes, the TVA will also need to be at their very best in order to traverse the obstacles.

Of course, there are multiple ways in which the TVA can become a more formidable organization. Deadpool & Wolverine flirted with the idea of the organization roping in actual superheroes from different universes in order to help their cause. And while there were plenty of hiccups in how Deadpool & Wolverine went about their jobs, the two were able to succeed in their mission, of defeating Cassandra Nova and saving the former’s reality.

Making TVA agents more powerful, and giving them new technology is an obvious way in which agents may prove less embarrassing in future projects. Another way, however, is to simply create an army of superheroes from across the multiverse, which may as yet form a major plotpoint in the upcoming Avengers saga.

The TVA has all the resources it needs to employ further superheroes, much in the same way that Deadpool was roped in, in Deadpool & Wolverine. That single-handedly not only solves the issue, but it also gives Marvel yet another way in which it can bring forth more fan-service, and potential cameos.
