Bernadette, played by Melissa Rauch, humorously remarks about the extensive effort it took to achieve her look, noting, “I’m gonna be washing paint out of my Smurf for a month!” And the actress, who played the character, echoed the sentiment during a Paley Center for Media convention.

Talking about getting ready for their Halloween look, both Simon Helberg and Rauch shared that the process of applying and removing the blue Smurf makeup was quite intensive and time-consuming.

I have really sensitive skin, so they’re like packing me with hot towels, and I’m starting to fall asleep, and it’s two dudes, and then my regular makeup artist went out of the trailer to get some more hot towels.

The actress recalled that during the process she was asked to lift her legs so the crew could clean the remaining makeup from underneath. And it was during this that she inadvertently exposed herself to the crew members.

“So I lift my legs up and close my eyes, and I hear one of the guys go, ‘Huh,'” she recalled. When she later looked in the mirror, she realized what had just happened, and was surprised and embarrassed by her accidental exposure.

“And I was like, “Dear Lord Jesus, that’s my business!” she recalled, admitting that after realizing what had happened, she awkwardly added, “Long night,” before quickly returning to the process.

Wrapping up the story, she joked, “That is the tale of my Smurfette.” Rauch’s unexpected and awkward experience drew immense laughter from the audience.
