The Rock Recalls an Ugly Memory From the Past

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was a legacy from the moment he was born. Son of the legendary wrestler, Rocky Johnson, he already has big shoes to fill from his childhood. Fortunately, the competitive aspect of the sporting world favored him due to his size and strength and he quickly rose through the ranks to become a player for the Miami Hurricanes.

But football is a violent sport and temperatures soar high in the heat of the game. The Rock recalls how one of his teammates had pushed him over the edge by blaming one of the lost matches on him, and the pair had soon landed on the ground, tackling each other until they were broken up by the parties present. Recalling the incident, Johnson revealed,

“It was like a movie fight — the desk got turned over, stuff was flying all over the place. We spilled out onto the weight room floor, still going at it. He wouldn’t stop talking, so I decided to pull his tongue out. I stuffed my big ol’ hand into his mouth, and I had a couple of fingers around his tongue, but it was so damn slippery!”

Rocky Johnson Reveals Details About The Rock’s Fight

Wayde Douglas Bowles, professionally known as Rocky Johnson (1944-2020), was the first Black Georgia Heavyweight Champion. His son, Dwayne Johnson, after college, followed in his footsteps to become a legend in the WWE world, rising out of his father’s shadow and garnering an even bigger name for himself. Now the world recognizes his name and his face as one of the most humble, well-spoken, and durable stars in Hollywood. However, the past spoke a different story.

In an interview with Hannibal TV, Rocky Johnson recalled The Rock’s college fight with a fellow teammate — “oh yeah! He almost killed Heartbreak Kid and then he got into fighting the football team. I mean, he got on his own players and he’s trying to pull his tongue out.” However, the causal reason for the entire fight, which broke out in the aftermath of a lost game would soon be forgotten as Johnson, along with his team, would go on to win the 1991 National Championships soon after.
