We have currently entered a new era of the #MeToo movement. Now, more famous people are coming forward with their personal accounts of s*xual assault. One such revelation was made by Demi Moore in 2019, who is well-known for her talent and beauty. That was not enough for the audience to process, as she continued with another heartbreaking confession.

The 60-year-old actress sat down for a candid interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America prior to the release of her memoir, Inside Out (in 2019). She spoke about a lot of the revelations in her book, including some that were related to her troubled upbringing. 

As she revealed, the actress was allegedly s*xually assaulted when she was 15 years old. She went on to say that her mother was informed of the incident and that she had been offered $500 in exchange for her consent to the act.

Moore hoped that by sharing this information, she would be able to confront her painful past memories and draw attention to the complex problem of parental exploitation.

Demi Moore Talked About That Terrifying Incident 

Demi Moore claimed that at the age of 15, she was r*ped by a man who gave her late mother (Virginia King) $500 in exchange for the heinous crime. The 60-year-old actress spoke in depth about the shocking incident with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America in 2019. She first described it in her new memoir, Inside Out.

Bruce Willis‘ ex-wife wrote the book in honor of her three daughters and troubled mother, who passed away in 1998. The alleged incident, according to the actress, occurred when she returned home one evening and discovered an old man was there inside her apartment. She said:

“It was r*pe. And a devastating betrayal, revealed by the man’s cruel question: how does it feel to be wh*red by your mother for $500?.”

According to Moore, her mother was an alcoholic who took her daughter out to bars when she was a teenager so that men would notice them. Virginia King died in 1998.

When questioned about whether she agreed with the man’s assertions, she shared:

“I think, in my deep heart, no. I don’t think it was a straightforward transaction. But she [Moore’s mother]  still did give him the access, and put me in harm’s way. But she still — she did give him the access and put me in harm’s way.”

Demi Moore’s Gave Insight of Her Unloving Upbringing

Demi Moore was raised in a very unloving and hostile environment. The celebrity claimed that her parents were both alcoholics and that because of debt, the family often relocated across the nation. She also stated that she was 12 years old when her mother made her first attempt at suicide.

A Few Good Men star spoke about having to intervene when her mother attempted suicide when she was 12 years old. The Inside Out author recalled:

“I remember using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow, out of her mouth.”

She emphasized that it happened.

“Many, many times” after that. “[My childhood] was done. Life-changing moment.”

In other places, Moore has spoken about her struggles with addiction. When her marriage to Ashton Kutcher ended in 2012, she ran into the same problems (like her late mother) that led to her seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in the 1980s.  

She was hospitalized after consuming nitrous oxide and smoking synthetic cannabis, according to the New York Times. She had gained 102 pounds, and her kids had stopped talking to her as the actress told Diane Sawyer:

“I guess the fundamental question that came forward for me was, how did I get here? I blinded myself, and I lost myself.”
