Given that he has built quite a great portfolio when it comes to the action genre, he refuses to cut corners to escape from the intense workouts despite being 52. He has always prioritized his fitness to enjoy a long time here, which is why he refuses to slack off!

In an interview with PEOPLE, the 52-year-old actor talked about how he also thinks of skipping the gym on certain days. However, he also understands the impact it would bring on himself if he takes a raincheck on his fitness regime. 

“I probably feel like that almost every day” Wahlberg stated. “I know what the feeling is going to be like after. That’s hard to duplicate.”

Mark Wahlberg further added,

“If I cut corners, then I can’t be at my best. Everything that I’ve done, that I’ve been successful at, is done by doing the work.”

He also encouraged others to make a routine of working out for at least 10 minutes which is going to make them feel better. He shared, 

“I encourage everybody, even if you just work out for 10 minutes, you’re going to feel better. We’re all very fortunate and blessed. You want to live as long as possible. You want to be able to move, and certainly, you got to do it.”

He has gone through intense training to prepare for movies like Pain and Gain, Infinite, and Shooter. While he admitted that his workout was initially to prepare for his roles, he has included the same to ensure a healthy life.

In the same interview, the Uncharted star talked about how he focuses on longevity more than anything else. Initially, he was working out just to ‘get in shape’ but now the actor wants to live for a long time. He shared in the same interview, 

“For me, now, it’s much more about longevity than anything else. You know? Before it was about aesthetic when trying to get in shape. I want to live a long time.”

He further mentioned, 

“I feel better getting up early. If I don’t work out in the morning, I have a really hard time doing it towards the end of the day.”

Despite his age, his chiseled physique showcases the tremendous efforts that he continued to make for years. He usually starts his day at 4 am to work towards his goal, which is why his incredible abs are no wonder but the output of his sheer hard work.
