Adam Driver and Mark Ruffalo appear on the same track regarding streaming giants’ failure to meet actors’ demands.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA striker has stifled Hollywood studios’ ambitious projects, as thousands of actors have committed to put a pause on working with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) as they raise concerns over issues like working conditions, fair pay, and residuals in the industry.

This has also meant that the actors aren’t promoting already developed movies ahead of their release. Xolo Maridueña didn’t promote Blue Beetle and Oppenheimer’s cast didn’t attend the movie’s screening in solidarity with the strike. Still, no brakes have been put on the promotion of Driver’s aptly named movie, Ferrari – but for a very good reason.

What Adam Driver Said About Attending Ferrari’s Premiere Amid Hollywood Strikes

Two-time Oscar-nominated actor Adam Driver is at the helm of Ferrari – a biopic on automotive mogul Enzo Ferrari. Penélope Cruz joins him on the passenger seat, playing the role of the industrialist’s other half, Laura Dominica Garello Ferrari.

The movie, which is scheduled to release on 30th November, premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. Accordingly, the Marriage Story star attended the event. Actors are refraining from promoting movies from major studios as their union voices their concerns, but it’s understood Neon and STX, who are backing Ferrari, “are not targeted by the labor action.”

However, while talking about his period drama movie, the 39-year-old made sure to show his support for the strike, insisting he’s “proud to be here” as a “visual representation of a movie that’s not part of the AMPTP.”

“Why is it that a smaller distribution company like Neon or STX International can meet the dream demands of what SAG is asking for in this pre-negotiation, but a big company like Netflix and Amazon can’t?,” he questioned.

Driver continued: “Every time people from SAG go and support a movie that has agreed to these terms — the interim agreement — it just makes it more obvious that these people are willing to support the people that they collaborate with, and the others are not. So when this opportunity came up, it seemed like — understanding the interim agreement — a no-brainer for all of these reasons of why you want to support your union.”

Acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann, who directed Ferrari, also made it clear that they stand in total solidarity with SAG and the WAG, as well.

Mark Ruffalo Shares Adam Driver’s Questions Pointed at Netflix and Amazon

Now You See Me star Mark Ruffalo also showed he agrees with Driver’s question by sharing the same on his X account accompanied by Clapping hands emoji.

Ruffalo took the bold stance – which received plenty of praise in the reply section from users – despite working in The Adam Project, the movie which exclusively streamed on Netflix. He played the role of Adam Reed’s (Ryan Reynolds) father, Louis, who is a brilliant quantum physicist. The movie which focuses on Adam, a time-traveling fighter pilot, was a huge success.

In April 2022, Ruffalo celebrated the reactions it received by sharing the viewing figures. At the time, the movie was the fourth most-watched film in Netflix’s history with 233.15 million hours viewed.
