Having made headlines in recent years due to Tory Lanez’s shooting trial, rapper Megan Thee Stallion is back to doing what she does best: raising eyebrows with her untamed rap verses. And this time, with her track HISS, she has done a lot more than just raise eyebrows.
Last Friday, the 28-year-old released HISS – a diss track that addresses various aspects of her life, including people who doubted or hated her. Many fans, who like to read between the lines, believe the biggest target of the HISS poison is Nicki Minaj. Regardless of who Megan is taking aim at, the most important thing is that Spotify listeners are absolutely devouring the song.
Megan Thee Stallion’s Latest Song Tops US Spotify Chart Amid Her Rivalry With Nicki Minaj
Hiss is the second single from Megan Thee Stallion‘s third studio album, which is expected to be dropped this summer. The diss track poetically follows, Cobra, her recent solo release.
Speaking to The Breakfast Club, Megan said HISS is about anyone who uses her name to get attention. She added:
“When a snake feel like you’ve been playing and like doing a whole bunch of swaying, it’s basically telling you to back off. I hear you, I see you, get up off me now. Basically, that’s what it means.”
Meanwhile, both her and Nicki Minaj‘s fans believe Megan attacked the Anaconda singer by referencing Megan’s Law and R. Kelly. This supposed rivalry has helped HISS make a significant tremble on the Spotify charts.
The diss track remains at #1 on US Spotify with a new daily high in streams of 1.67 million streams. As expected, Minaj bit back – albeit with a milder impact.
How Nicki Minaj’s Big Foot is Performing on US Spotify Chart
The 12-time Grammy-nominated artist expressed her displeasure with Megan’s antics on X before releasing Big Foot on Monday – a diss track in response to HISS.
The 41-year-old posted excerpts of the lyrics on X. In the outro, Minaj demanded an apology from Megan, suggesting she’s not afraid to release more such tracks.
However, Big Foot hasn’t managed to have the same impact on Spotify and currently sits in 23rd position on the US Spotify chart.
The numbers war on Spotify is something we can all enjoy, but this feud is in danger of turning very ugly. According to TMZ, cops are getting involved to protect the HISS rapper’s late mother’s gravesite in light of the escalating feud between the two fandoms.
