Dragon Ball is one of the most legendary series of all time and the founding anime that laid the groundwork for all our new-gen anime. The iconic transformation of Goku into a super saiyan to this day remains undefeated and shows the brilliance of Akira Toriyama.
One of Goku’s most iconic transformations was the super Saiyan god, which he used against Beerus in the 2014 movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods. However, it might have been inspired by one of the fanfics released way too early.
The inspiration for Dragon Ball Super Saiyan God might have been taken from a fanfic
Dragon Ball, written by Akira Toriyama, is undoubtedly one of the greatest anime and manga of all time and was the source of inspiration for many anime.
Several creators have openly admitted to taking inspiration from this legendary series, which is still ongoing and has already announced its next project.
Dragon Ball remains the only anime that has broken the internet, and by internet, we mean the whole internet, not just some websites.
However, recently, fans have discovered a fanfic that shows almost the same ritual used by Goku in the movie to become a god.
The ritual that Goku used to become a super Saiyan god included seven Super Saiyans, and they all gave their powers to Goku, which helped him enter the realms of god.
However, a fanfic written by manga artist Toyotarou called Dragon Ball AF might have inspired it, which was released in 2003.
The fanfic depicts the same ritual, but the only difference is that Goku was in the Ryu’oshin Realms, and to return to Earth, they needed to perform the ritual, which required seven Super Saiyans.
As the fanfic was written way too early as compared to the movie release time, many fans speculate that the source of it might have been Dragon Ball AF.
What’s next for Dragon Ball?
The Dragon Ball manga started on December 3, 1984, and has continued. On the other hand, the anime started on February 26, 1986.
This marked the beginning of a legendary era, which remains. The franchise has probably one of the biggest fanbases in the world.
The next project of the series has already been announced, and it is titled Dragon Ball Daima, which will air in the fall of 2024. It was announced at New York Comic-Con 2023.
The story would be based on Z fighters who have turned into children and must fight to regain their original size.
Much information about it has yet to be revealed, but it remains interesting to see what the new series has to offer.
