Call of Duty is one of the most popular multiplayer shooter franchises in the gaming industry. Apart from having a number of games on their roster, they also have a thriving community of players and streamers who drive the game’s popularity day in and day out.

But of late, players have been far from happy with the way things are panning out for the franchise. With the added emphasis on the battle royale mode, veteran players feel that multi-player, the original popular mode, is taking a backseat for the developers. The latest to voice their displeasure has been Dr Disrespect who took to X to ask his fans and followers whether Call of Duty has given up on itself.

Dr Disrespect Looks Fed up Finally

Dr Disrespect is one of the most prominent Call of Duty streamers in the community. With a huge fan following, he is quite an influential figure in the community. But if his post on X is anything to go by, it feels as if he is disenchanted and frustrated with the franchise for ignoring the community and getting busy lining their pockets with cash with subpar games and content.

With over 10k likes on the post, it is safe to say that a large part of the community is siding with him. There have been close to a thousand comments on the post where people gave their two cents regarding the situation.

One user named Jake Lucky pointed out, “People complain every year but keep buying every day but keep playing Cod always wins until that changes“. Another user was quick to ask whether he had bought the game this year and he replied in the affirmative saying that he is “part of the fkin problem“.

Another user said, “Even worse… They gave up on the community…“. To this, a fan commented, “They gave up years ago“. Whether the franchise has actually given up on its community is up for debate but the general sentiment sure looks that way. This is quite surprising considering that a COD streamer has made a bigger fortune than the salaries of all the Dune 2 actors combined.

Where Does Call of Duty Go From Here?

The Call of Duty franchise has been plagued with problems in recent years. From fans being unhappy with the newer entries in the franchise to the community being plagued with cheaters, the list goes on. The situation got so bad that fans are demanding old games like the OG Warzone back.

One fan bemoaned the lack of competition when it comes to multiplayer shooting games as Call of Duty has enjoyed virtual autonomy in the genre so far. Other games like Battlefield and Halo still lag behind COD when it comes to popularity.

No developer or official from the franchise has responded to the post. And by the looks of it, Warzone Season 3 is going to be here soon despite cheating being rampant.

Nobody knows what the developers are playing at but they definitely do not want to lose the community that they have fostered over the past twenty years. However, their next course of action to placate the community remains to be seen.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
