His distinctive squeaky, clean bald head and massive 6′ 5″ frame have made him famous. But rather than having a genetic predisposition, fans might be surprised to learn that Dany Garcia‘s former husband actually decided to go bald.  

The 51-year-old actor gave a hilarious explanation after a rare GIF of Johnson with curly brown hair was posted on Twitter by the showtime TV series A Season With. The GIF was from his college days. Additionally, in it, The Rock, who has curly hair, surveyed the football field with a smoldering gaze.

A significant portion of Johnson’s fan base believed, over time, that he was male-pattern bald. Johnson saw this GIF and made an extremely exhilarating comment about why he has less hair and is bald. He tweeted:
