Taylor Swift may be in a bit of trouble with her reputation. Pun intended. Following the private jet debacle which revealed the number of celebrities whose carbon footprints have been raking up, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter was at the top of the list — which astounded her fans. Her private jet has made 170 flights since January of this year, totaling 8,293.54 tones of flight emissions, a number that is enough to emphasize the gravity of the situation.
Recently, Khloe Kardashian, whose sister Kylie Jenner was one of the first to get entangled in the ‘climate crisis due to private jet emissions’ affair, liked a post on Instagram which may imply that the Swift-Kardashian feud is not over yet.
Taylor Swift’s Private Jet Usage
The Internet has been quite vocal about what they’ve felt about this entire controversy. The beloved singer was not one of the celebrities most people expected to see on Yard’s report on Celebs with the Worst Private Jet CO2 Emissions. Things got astoundingly shocking when she topped the list. Netizens of the world, including avid Taylor Swift fans, voiced their strong disapproval of the singer’s tenacious private jet usage. Swift’s representative responded to the allegation by saying that the singer-songwriter frequently lends out her jet to other people and that it would be outrageous to blame her for most of these journeys.
According to Yard’s analytical report, in total, Taylor’s private plane spent about 22,923 minutes up in the air. This number gets terrifying when you take into account how the celebrity is currently not on tour.
But How Is Kris Jenner Involved?
Khloe Kardashian, in a video that was posted by Instagram user @kardashiansocial, left a like. This video had a comedic premise showing Kris Jenner, the mother of the Kardashians, sitting down for an interview with the question “who leaked that Taylor Swift’s private jet took 170 flights this year?” showing up on the screen. The punchline comes in when the businesswoman responds, “Kris f*cking Jenner.”
Many people are taking this as a joke, while others have commented right under the video itself on how the Kardashians are “obsessed” with Taylor Swift and are trying to shift the spotlight of criticism from Kylie Jenner to the singer instead. Previously, Kylie Jenner was under blast for making a few short trips from her private jet which attracted tremendous backlash. Some are also calling out Khloe Kardashian for liking the post in the first place and bringing back the already extinguished flames of the past. One user also claimed, “the devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder.”
The Swift-Kardashian Rivalry
The feud between the Kardashians and Swift isn’t a new one. It all started with Kanye West, following the events that occurred in the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards where Swift was interrupted during her acceptance speech. Until 2016, the two had claimed to have cleared things up and even appeared friendly in some of the award shows in 2015.
But then, in West’s album The Life of Pablo which was released in 2016, he had a song titled, “Famous” which had certain lines about Swift that the singer reportedly didn’t agree to. West claimed that he sought permission before proceeding with it. Things only got messy when Kim K. entered the scene and made claims that the singer “totally knew.” The rest is history, but the feud was pretty nasty and that’s why the fans think that the Kardashians are back at it again.
While it is not known whether this was Khloe Kardashian’s attempt at fanning the flames of the past, the Internet is still rather upset about the news of celebrities’ rampant private jet usage, which is causing an unhealthy and destructive amount of CO2 production. This can be irrevocably detrimental to our planet if celebrities aren’t stopped from such environmental malpractices.
