Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 is out and is giving players a great time playing as ‘Arisen’ and employing ‘Pawns.’ Just like its predecessor, Dragon’s Dogma 2 includes its share of light-hearted as well as tongue-in-cheek moments. However, this game seems to be more on the serious side of the developer’s work.
Regardless of the serious tone, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does very well live up to the developer’s lineage of difficulty. The game features the Sphinx riddles which include some of the most complex challenges in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Nonetheless, they are worth spending the time to solve.
While solving one of the Sphinx riddles, players have discovered a rather unexpected easter egg in the game.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a Devil May Cry easter egg
Although the game does have quite a few easter eggs, one of them took the players by surprise, and that was a reference to Devil May Cry. In one of the game’s side quests, the player is required to solve a sphinx’s riddles. One of these riddles has an interesting easter egg.
While solving these riddles, the Sphinx usually asks the player to examine the world and locate a specific NPC. The Sphinx shows the player the character they need to look for. In one of the riddles, the NPC displayed is that of either Dante or Vergil from Devil May Cry.
Interestingly, the catch here is that Dante and Vergil are identical twins. The player will be shown an image of either one of the twins. This implies that when searching for the said character, there is also someone else who looks very similar out there in the world. It is likely that players may accidentally target the wrong twin.
As one advances through the quest, spotting the two twins is an exciting yet subtle easter egg dedicated to Devil May Cry. Notably, Dante and Vergil are both the twin Sons of Sparda from Devil May Cry.
Where to Find Dante and Vergil in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Players must note that the Sphinx will show them only one of the two characters. So they must find either Dante or Vergil based on whose character was shown to them. A tip here is that although Dante and Vergil look identical, Dante has straight hair, while Vergil has some mild waves.
To complete this Riddle of Differentiation, players must find the NPC and bring them back to the Sphinx in Dragon’s Dogma 2. To easily do this, players are advised to first take a screenshot of the character shown by the Sphinx as it will act as a reference.
Dante is located in Checkpoint Rest Town on the Vermund side. On the other hand, Vergil can be found on the Battahl side. Players can seize the targeted character with a Sealing Phial or can alternatively grab them. Then they must use a ferrystone to teleport back to the portcrystal they placed near the Frontier Shrine.
After returning to the Sphinx, players must then drop Dante or Vergil on the altar in front of her and simply chat to finish the riddle.
