The sequel to the 2018 movie has received praise from its audience for its animation, story, characters, and almost everything. It has already grossed over 500 million worldwide and has left fans wondering even more about Miles’ adventures in the final film of the franchise Beyond the Spider-Verse.
And the film continues to surprise its fans with multiple versions across a number of theatres. Fans spotted the differences and shared it on the internet and shared their doubts on social media. After this, the film’s editor resolved fans’ quarries as they revealed the reason behind it.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Released in Multiple Versions
Followed by the release of Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers‘ Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, fans started noticing the different versions of the same scenes in the movie. They started sharing such clips of the same scene on the internet, wondering if different versions of the film have been released in theatres.
One such scene featured Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, in a conversation with Lyla. While in the first one, she takes a selfie with him, in another version she simply points at him. After a fan shared the two scenes side by side on Twitter, film’s editor Andy Leviton confirmed that there are different versions of the film.

“I was wondering when people might start noticing…,” he said, replying to the tweet. After this, people started pointing out more scenes that varied in different versions of Across the Spider-Verse. And fans are also curious if the studio is legally allowed to release different versions of a film at a time.

Fans Curious Why the Studio Needed Different Versions
As the editor revealed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is released in different versions, fans were curious to know the reason behind this. They took to Twitter to ask why the studio needed more than one version. Some fans even questioned if the makers are allowed to do so legally.
Some fans also found it relatable to the concept of the multiverse, which is the central concept of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Others found it interesting, saying that it is good for the fans who are interested in watching the film multiple times in theatres, as there would be something new for them every time.
One fan also pointed out the different versions could be the result of “fixed audio mixing.” After the release of the film, fans reported sound mixing issues and that some of the dialogues were not clear in theatres. After which, Sony Pictures reportedly sent updated versions of the movie to theatres.

Why not? Some people will def go to the theater more than once in hope to find a different version. Then, after the hype goes down, someone from the team will come out w/ some bs like “but there’s another, ultra rare version, randomly put in some blue ray” or something ½

1) Does this add anything to the story told?
2) Does it change dramatically the story told for each version?
3) Is there 1 story anymore?
4) How can anyone know which version they saw?

It is also reported that the complaint came from a “handful of theaters” only, but insiders have claimed that the studio has updated all prints of the film. The reason or motive behind having different versions is not clear yet. But fans seem to be enjoying it.
