One of the many entities happens to be international fashion house Dior. The brand stands by the contracts and commitments it made to Johnny Depp. While the rest of the industry is busy trying to ostracize Johnny Depp, Dior has garnered huge respect from fans all over the world for this act.

In 2018, Rupert Murdoch owned The Sun – a British Tabloid, published an article titled ‘Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?’ The actor’s reputation took a toll after the article was published, which was technically illegal since it was an ongoing judicial investigation at the time. Fats forward to 2020 and the courts have actually back-tracked on their own laws. Where newspapers and other information sources are punished for trying to influence the jury, the British Courts favored The Sun’s title. The judge found the title to be apt and “substantially true”.

Dior has associated itself with Johnny Depp ever since 2015. It hired the actor as the face of its fragrance brand – Sauvage. Many people have called out Dior for involving themselves with the actor. Many more have even called the brand to boycott Johnny Depp. Several complaints were recorded by the Advertising Standards Authority when the ad aired during The Great British Bake Off.

The total number of complaints received by the ASA were 11. Dior was lambasted for keeping Johnny Depp around. The brad has already reportedly paid the actor 3-5 Million Dollars for becoming its face. According to sources, they might be planning to let him go very soon.

Dior Public Relations Expert Mark Bakowski claims it is time for them to dissociate themselves from Johnny Depp. Depp may no longer be the face of Sauvage. Severing links with the actor is tactically the right move. Because no matter who the real culprit is, Depp remains a controversial figure and Dior is running a business, not a charity.

Fans took to social media to applaud Dior keeping Depp as Sauvage’s face. They even went on to slyly implicate Warner Brothers and Disney for not doing the same. Depp was let go from the sets of Fantastic Beasts 3. Actor Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the role of Grindelwald. Johnny Depp is also no longer Jack Sparrow in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.

It’s a game of chess now. And sadly, Johnny Depp is losing. At least Dior did the right thing. There is still a war for Johnny Depp to fight. He has lost one lawsuit. There will be many more to come in the future. Fans from all over the world have showered Depp with support. All we want to say is Justice will prevail.
