The twist in the tale is that Mark Wahlberg’s character is now a family man. Being a dad of 3 children, Wahlberg has no option but to pack his bags and leave for a road trip to Las Vegas. Although the film received average reviews, the director of the film, Simon Cellan Jones talked about the possibility of a sequel in an interview with The Direct.

“That’s a great question. I don’t know. They’d all be older and wiser. But, you know, it would definitely be a road movie. I don’t know whether it’d be Europe or South America, somewhere crazy like that.”

He further continued,

“Yeah, but I think it would look it would be a different story, but it would be the same family, and it would be because family never cures its problems. It just sort of puts them on hold for a while. I think they’d still be tons and tons of great material.”

As for Mark Wahlberg and his co-star Michelle Monaghan, the two added quite the charm in the movie. As the interview progressed, Wahlberg revealed that there was only one F-bomb in the movie and he was so sad that he didn’t get to say it!

Being an ex-assassin with an army of enemies at your trail, it is a natural instinct to at least curse a little. However, cursing is a big no-no when it comes to PG-13 movies. As per the rules for film ratings, a PG-13 movie can have one curse word throughout the entire runtime and Mark Wahlberg was so sad that it wasn’t him who dropped the F-bomb!

“In a PG-13 movie, you get one F-bomb, [the director] kept giving it to [Michelle Monaghan]. It was that one moment in the elevator and I was like, Yeah, well, I had five other places where I thought, you know, I should get the F bomb, right?… She got the F-bomb, the scene was spot on.”

He further continued,

“So there’s probably a sizzle reel with me attempting to get the F-bomb, about 10 different moments, that we might at least put on some sort of extras.”

Being a movie about family and comedy, The Family Plan received a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDB and a record-low of 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. With a potential sequel on the way, the 2023 film is currently available to stream on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
