Disney Releases Pinocchio Teaser, First Look at Tom Hanks as Geppetto

Disney+’s latest live-action “Pinocchio” remake, will be streaming on September 8 as part of Disney+ Day. People already got teased by the role of Hanks who plays Geppetto, he is the puppeteer who wants a son.

Another character named Cynthia Erivo shows as the Blue Fairy and grants Geppetto’s wish by turning the puppet Pinocchio into a real boy. This role is voiced by a 13year old teen named Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. Alongside, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the animated narrator as Jiminy Cricket. We can see other characters including Lorraine Bracco, Luke Evans, and Keegan-Michael Key.

Pinocchio has been under development since 2015. This storyline is based on the 1883 Italian book by Carlo Collodi and a 1940 Disney movie. The teaser reveals a big change for the live-action Pinocchio. We can see the Blue Fairy singing the famous ballad, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which is music that originally belonged to Jiminy Cricket. The characters are Grammy, Emmy, and Erivo’s voice who plays the Blue Fairy is a complete treasure for the film.

In the first footage, we can see fewer protagonists, but more side characters like Jiminy Cricket and ‘Honest’ John Worthington, Foulfellow. If you don’t know the full story, then no worries! The story follows Geppetto goes to bed one night wishing that the wooden doll could be real. Luckily magic is there and Pinocchio blooms to life. The official synopsis reads:

“Robert Zemeckis directs this live-action retelling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the woodcarver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son.”

“Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his ‘conscience’; Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is ‘Honest’ John; Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman.”

Pinocchio will be streaming on Disney Plus on September 8.
