Marvel star Jonathan Majors was charged guilty of assault after a nearly year-long legal battle with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. The ex-couple got involved in a domestic dispute back in March 2023, after which Majors was arrested in New York. He was accused of physically and emotionally abusing Jabbari, with reports of Majors fracturing her finger during the dispute.
The ongoing trial finally concluded today, charging Majors guilty of assault to Grace Jabbari. Consequently, the actor, who was set to star in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, is looking at a year in prison. Besides, his rising Hollywood career seems bleak as of now as Marvel dropped him from the franchise. Days before the verdict, a startling footage of the ex-couple fighting on the streets of New York was shared and is going viral on social media.
Disturbing video of Jonathan Major’s fight with Grace Jabbari
Amid the ongoing controversy between the 34-year-old actor and his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who is a professional dancer and movement coach, a video displayed the ex-couple physically engaging in a fight in the middle of the streets. The CCTV footage was released by TMZ on YouTube, displaying what really went down that night which started the controversy.
According to the video, Jonathan Majors was seen hauling Jabbari back into her car, trying to put her in while the latter fought him off. The dispute began after Jabbari snatched his phone and saw a text from another woman on Major’s phone, confirming that he was cheating on her, per BBC. Therefore, to retrieve his phone, Majors grabbed Jabbari, twisted her hand which might have amounted to the fracture, and smacked her head. As the scuffle ensued, the ex-couple moved to the footpath following which Jabbari chased the Marvel actor as he tried to escape her.
The four-minute-long video presented snippets of CCTV cameras from all angles, with Majors fleeing while Jabbari tirelessly chased him. Moments later, Jabbari was seen talking to people, probably asking for help when Majors crossed them, cautioning the passersby. The next footage showed Jabbari again following Majors while the latter seemingly told her to get away.
Surprisingly, the instance was not the end of it. The following morning, Majors called in the cops after finding Jabbari in his New York apartment’s closet, unconscious and undressed, as one officer recorded the entire mishap.
Jonathan Majors steps into troubled waters
A six-person jury was looking into Major’s assault case and announced their decision this week. However, the actor was charged with unintentional but reckless assault that caused physical harm to Jabbari but refuted the charges of ‘aggravated harassment.’ The NYPD recovered Jabbari in a dire state, with a fractured finger, cut behind her ears, and bruises, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, the jury collected voice recordings and texts from Majors where he claimed to be a “monster” and a “horrible man.” Unraveling the details, the jury even stumbled upon a recording of Majors urging his ex-girlfriend to act like Michelle Obama and Coretta Scott King, the wives of great men Barack Obama and Martin Luther King. Majors marked himself as a heroic figure in his community, and hence, Jabbari needed to make sacrifices to be with him.
On the other hand, Majors’ lawyer denied the allegations and claimed that the actor was the victim instead, as Jabbar hit him after seeing the text. Owing to the verdict, Majors will be sentenced in February. With Marvel dropping him from the MCU and PR firms cutting ties, only time will tell what lies ahead for the actor.
