Fans have patiently been waiting for the second season of The Last of Us since the release of the first. While some of the fans have joined in only for the show, those who are fans of the game and are aware of where the story is going to go are quite nervous. Since the announcement of Kaitlyn Dever’s casting as Abby Anderson from the games, audiences have been dreading her entry into the series.
Not because of the choice in casting or the actress who is playing the character, but because of what the character ends up doing to the protagonists in the second game. So much so, that with the release of the first teaser for the second season, fans have been worried sick about what she is going to do to the beloved protagonists.
Teasers and Torments
Recently, HBO finally released the first teaser for the second season of The Last of Us. Many fans got to see many iconic characters come to life, even if it was for a few seconds, and audiences cannot help but be excited about what is to come. While the announcement has come with a lot of anticipation, there has been a threat of fear for fans of the game.
In The Last of Us Part II, the newly introduced character, Abby Anderson, ends up killing Joel, leading to one of the most complicated and controversial arcs in all of video game history. The places that the story takes her and Ellie’s character have frequently been brought up for splitting the audience.
Half of the fans thought that the second game was horrible, and the other thought that it was a masterpiece in every definition of the world. It is safe to say that Abby is certainly an extremely hated character, and her complexities are missed by many of her viewers.
With this in mind, one can assume that Kaitlyn Dever is going to be in for a similar treatment once she is one screen as Abby.
Fans Quake In Fear for Kaitlyn Dever
With the release of the teaser for The Last of Us season two, fans also got their first look at Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. While many would expect fans to be focused on whether she looks like her character or not, they seemed to be distracted by something entirely different. A majority of discussions among the viewers had more to do with what the character is going to do inevitably, than how the actress is going to play her character.
Many fans were concerned about her public image, stating that she is going to have to get ready for a lot of hate once her character does end up killing Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller. In the game, Abby famously kills Joel by bashing his head in with a golf club. The brutal death seems to have not left the minds of the audience, as fans demand that the studio not bring her anywhere near a golf club throughout her time in the show.

Even though audiences know that what is to come cannot be stopped, they cannot help but hope and try to help the actress avoid the hate she will inevitably get.
