Conor McGregor is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of the world of MMA. His star power is undeniable as he always breaks pay-per-view records for any event he headlines. He also has respect for his peers in any sport and that’s true for female athletes as well. In fact, what McGregor did for a former featherweight champion showed what a wonderful human being he really is.
In late October 2021, McGregor himself dropped the bombshell that the UFC was eyeing April for his comeback to the Octagon. It had been a while since he stepped into the cage, with his last bout dating back to July 2021 when he faced off against Dustin Poirier. Even now, it isn’t known when he will actually return for good to the Octagon.
Conor McGregor Revealed How Wonderful He Is With His Actions Toward a Former Featherweight Champion
Conor McGregor, well-versed in the art of knockouts, recently offered his support to former PFL featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane. Despite Loughnane’s impressive five-fight win streak, he faced a devastating first-round knockout from Jesus Pinedo.
This loss was particularly crushing as it marked only the fifth defeat in Loughnane’s 32 professional fights. However, Loughnane found solace in a sparring session with McGregor, where the Irish legend’s punches helped him assess the durability of his chin.
Reflecting on this experience in an interview with The Allstar, Loughnane gained confidence in his ability to absorb shots.
“I took my sign. That was my sign to take some time off. Took the adequate time off for somebody that’s been knocked out. And then obviously, I got a call off Conor McGregor, ‘Do you want to spar?’ And I was like, ‘Okay, well, I guess I’m back training again,’ and we started sparring, took a few backhands off Conor McGregor, and I thought, ‘Okay, the chin’s alright then.'”
Conor McGregor might have a reputation of being cold and unfriendly sometimes but this just proves how wonderful of a person he truly could be.
Will Conor McGregor Appear In Future Films?
Road House marks a promising beginning for McGregor. Yet, what lies ahead? McGregor remains active in boxing, balancing his attention between the two facets of his career. Reflecting on his role in the film while speaking to Extra TV, McGregor explained that initially, it was intended to be a brief appearance, akin to Post Malone’s involvement. However, as filming progressed, McGregor’s role expanded, with additional scenes added.
“Originally I was kind of, I was to come in, it was like kind of like the similar setup to Post Malone. I was like, you know? Would have been in and out and a short bit and then they kind of kept adding more and more and then obviously without spoiling it, as you know, potentially is an opportunity, maybe for something down the line, I don’t know.”
McGregor hinted at potential future opportunities related to his character in the film, although specifics remain undisclosed to avoid spoilers.
McGregor is also looking to compete in at least two fights in the UFC, “hopefully I get a fight date booked,” he said.
“I’m looking to compete but by you know a couple of times by the end of the year. I’d love two fights in by this by the end of the year.”
However, if another opportunity presents itself for McGregor to appear on screen again, he may eagerly seize it, as he thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of filming Road House. McGregor also disclosed that he currently feels blessed and fortunate in his current situation.
